Folks, I co-own a little Coleman Columbia pop-up which I haven’t seen for about 5 years. My partner dropped it off as he was moving out of state, and the poor little thing is hammered! The canvas is basically shot, and there’s a fair amount of wood rot in the top. I’m totally new to the restoration ‘hobby’ and can really use some advice…

  • The local dealer says 00 for new canvas. Is there an aftermarket source where I might find it cheaper?
  • When I tear out all that rotted wood on the fiberglass top, any recommendations on how to replace it?
  • Any other advice before I just jump into this project feet first?
Thanks – see you in the parks!

bear creek canvas is the best place for the canvas. aftermarket but perfect fit. i had them do my 84 shenandoah. 0 including delivery. the rotted wood is caused by pitting in the metal top. seal the top with something. i put on flat roof aluminium roll patching. then fix the wood. you’ll need 3/4 inch styrofoam and some 1/4 luan found at most lumber stores. you’ll also need some spray adhesive that won’t attak foam board. like 3M polystyrene foam insulation adhesive 78. take your time watch out for the metal stripping between the foam and wood . take notes as you go and it’ll look great when your done
